Al Sharq Forum is looking for graduate students or final year undergrad students for a 5 months paid internship scheme between the months of February and June of 2018. The internship position is for young fellows who have interest and experience in studying the Sharq region, what is also known as the MENA region. The scheme is consisted of two stages. In the first stage, the interns will go through a training program where they will attend critical thinking, reading, writing, and presentation skills workshops. During the second stage of their internship, interns will be expected to draw on their new skills and produce research papers under the guidance of their assigned mentors and will also be tasked with assisting in research conducted by Al Sharq. As Al Sharq Forum organizes conferences, round tables, and workshops on the issues of the region, interns are also expected to assist the staff in organizing events. Interns are also expected to help develop web and social media content. Both full time (Monday to Friday, 10am-6pm) and part time (16-20 h/w) options are available for this position.

Internship start date: February 1, 2018

Requirements:

Full English working proficiency is required as all events, papers, and office conduct are in English
Proficiency in one of the languages of the region (e.g. Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Kurdish etc.)  is a plus but not required
Interpersonal skills are necessary as many of the tasks will be carried out in cooperation with the staff
Applicants must be based in Istanbul during the internship period
■ Travel and accommodation expenses will not be covered for applicants who plan to relocate specifically for the internship.
